Helga Isager has in her book Stitches worked to combine knitting and embroidery.

The book contains 10 patterns for women's garments: a jacket, a cardigan, a dress, four sweaters, one blouse, one hat and a scarf.

All the patterns have the thing in common that the knitting works very well on its own, but by adding embroidery the look and feel can be changed significantly. For instance, embroidery using multiple strands can give a three-dimensional result, and your work can be refreshed and renewed – long after it's finished – by using a new colour or material.

The book contains a plethora of gorgeous images and illustrations for the applied embroidery techniques. All models are made using Isager yarn.
