Opal is brand of sock yarn created by the German TUTTO group.

TUTTO has specialised making yarn with the colours of art works. They started this practice using the works of painter and graphic designer Friedensreich Hundertwasser, and since this beginning, other themes have been added to the portfolio.

Every year they let themselves be inspired by the animals of the rain forest to create a collection where part of the profits is donated to rain forest conservation groups. You can read more about this project at www.sockenwolle.de or on the product pages of the Regenwald-yarns.

Opal is available as 4-ply for needles 2.5-3mm, but also as 6-ply (needles 3.5-4mm) and 8-ply (needles 4.5-5mm)

The yarn is not just for socks – it’s great for sweaters too! If knitting sweaters, use needles 3-4mm for the regular 4-ply.
